Happy New Moon!

in Capricorn

What's a pirate's favorite letter?

You'd think it'd be Arrr... but a pirate's first love is the Sea!

It's vacation vibes over here in Slade-land. For my parents' 40th wedding anniversary, my family is going on a Caribbean cruise.

My parents have become avid cruise-goers over the last decade and my brother and I finally gave in to peer pressure to spend days at sea on a boat with no sails (my complaint) and 6,000 other people (his issue). How do they fit so many people on a ship that still floats?!? What could they possibly use for ballast for that many human beings -- is there dark matter in the bilge?!? I'll be asking a crewmember, you can be certain.

As always happens when I'm leaving town, it's the week before when it actually hits me that, oh yeah, all those things-to-do-before-I-go...all actually have to be done Right The Fuck Now!

So wish me luck as I pull out my dusty suitcase from the pocket universe underneath the bed and start throwing flip flops and sunscreen inside of it. (I know. Poor me, going to a place where I need actual sunscreen, out of respect for all that sunshiney Vitamin D. I'll accept your sympathy cards on my way out.)

This month marks the first of many things for all of us in the new year, including the first poop, the first burnt noodles, the first time you wake up and can't remember whether you dreamed that awesome presentation or actually did it, and the first new moon.

You know I love a good set of intentions. I'm usually pretty excited about setting them for the coming year. This year they seemed to set themselves, based on the hella whirlwind of energy that came into this fall/winter season and that it still feels like we're riding like an insane locomotive. Have you felt this too? This year seemed to roll in like the extension of last month's energy -- Winter Part 2: Electric Boogaloo.

This can also be a time of great trying -- trying to do new things, trying to recover from the holidays, trying to be more and do more and somehow prove that you've earned a "new year, new you" makeover, and maybe prove to yourself that you can do it after all.

I invite you, in all of that frenzy of what we feel is necessary to "start the year off right," to also allow yourself to rest.

Rest is a necessary part of your season right now. Especially for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere who are at the height of the yearly darkness, of hibernation and warm cozy sweaters and more lattes than you could deem possible.

Take time to rest. Your intentions need room to dream, to breathe, and to inspire you. Hold your intentions gently, loosely, in your hands, and allow yourself to dream and imagine at least as often as you take action.

The process of moving in alignment with the universal intentions for yourself (which are the same and identical to the intentions that you created for yourself at year's ending, or at any other time) requires you to breathe and make room in your being, heart, and world for these new things to show up in. They need space.

Allow yourself to take some time to find a balance -- most of us are learning how to do this still. Finding the balance between sleep and awake, dreams and action, allowing and making manifest, isn't an easy one for any of us raised in a culture of move move move do do do never stop until you've "made it."

It's important that we take the time for unlearning this insanity of our culture as we go; it will smooth the way and make manifest what we're here for much more quickly and smoothly, meaning fewer bumps in the road.

And to help us all on our way, I asked the Akashic Records for a little guidance on what we can expect to experience together as a group energy in 2024...

Some wisdom from the Akashic Records for the month ahead...

This month I asked the Records: "What can the members of the Diamond Room newsletter expect from the year ahead? In other words, what's the vibe for 2024, as it relates particularly to them?"

Here's what the Akashic Records said in response:

Good question. "Particularly to them" -- good addition, specific, we like it and appreciate the specificity of this inquiry.

The year starts off with a bang (yes, literally). And it just won't stop from there -- the year begins at a breakneck speed, it seems like, as if it's been just waiting to get underway. There are expansive energies right here and now -- it seems to be a fabulous time, speedy in all the good ways, and new things turning up quickly where you put them (in your mind, when you were thinking through this year and what it would look like).

It's a time of cherishing what you've got. It's a time of wanting what you have. And it's a time of you getting clear that what you have is what you always wanted at some point in your life. "I always wanted to be safe when I wasn't feeling so much so." Safe can turn into boring, and then that's a whole new next problem to deal with. It's easy to forget that the things we manifested and created now, to live the life we're currently leading, are the same things we once found totally unattainable and hard to find, out of reach.

It's remarkable then, that there could ever be anything that is out of your reach. You have moved mountains already in your life and you'll move more (many, many more). You must remember this and recall for yourself intentionally when you struggle in life that there are mountains (metaphorical) that you have climbed to the summit of and laid a flag in them, as a champion would.

You're not the small and insignificant bug-type person you think you are. Sometimes you know this; you know that you're meant to make a difference in this world, and to make it through the easiest avenues of your strengths and gifts. Don't trust it if it's too easy? Girl, you'll learn to make it easier and let go of outside, internalized pressures to "earn" it.

You'll do great this year. All you have to do is move. Move in the direction of the source of all your happinesses and problems. They will increase in number but decrease in size and intensity and the ability to bowl you over with their gravity. You'll gain a lot of direction from this. A lot of pull towards the thing(s) you need to make your dreams the reality.

That's it. Keep chugging along, my friends. The "end" is near -- the end of despair, the end of longing, and the end of carrying on as if everything's fine when it isn't. Keep up the good work, lads.

And that's it.

When I first channeled this moon's Akashic guidance (spoiler alert: it was before the new year) the line about this year "starting off with a bang (literally)" made me nervous. What does that mean? Should I be worried? It's been a wild last few years, dude, I'm definitely worried.

And then this New Year's Eve rolled around and I was so engrossed with my friends in a board game we were learning-by-playing, that we didn't fully grasp that midnight had rolled around until there were fireworks going off in the neighborhood and waking up the toddler in the next room.

It started off with a bang. A literal one.

This seems to be a part of the theme that the Records are describing this year: it's okay to stop freaking out now. It's okay to relax and reset our nervous systems now. We don't have to be on high alert anymore. It's not going to happen again; we're not going back into Pandemic-land anytime soon. We don't have to freak out about the worst happening.

This doesn't mean that nothing "bad" ever happens -- I know several people who've already had some pretty challenging circumstances turn up in their lives in the first 11 days of this year so far. It means that we don't have to respond with terror, panic, or stress levels so high we can see Everest from the top of them.

It's time to turn it down, to remember what it's like to rest, and to learn to expect good things. Anticipate a reality that's actually pretty pleasant, and comfortable, and where good things also keep happening to us too.

We're really powerful beings. It's easy to forget that. What we expect will be what we perceive in the world. You expect to see chaos and your brain will filter the world looking for more chaos. You expect to see birds and it will filter your world looking for birds. You expect to see miracles and you will see miracles.

It's not that one way of thinking is "better" than any others. But there are consequences of all of them, and some are more pleasant than others, as consequences go.

It's something to consider. ;)

I also wanted to make a comment on something I've noticed over the last couple of years of channeling, that turned up twice in this guidance. Sometimes, the Records get sassy and fun and start throwing around pop culture references, like calling out you (and me, lol) in a "girl, what tf are you doing" sort of a way. To me as I'm channeling, these terms always feel very gender-neutral, non-age-specific. They're used to poke gentle fun and convey complicated emotions.

The Records often use the meme-like aspects of language to convey a feeling or idea as accurately as possible. This is a weird aspect of channeling that is easy for me to understand as I'm feeling the feelings they express, as the words come through me. Without that context, it can be harder to see.

Do they do this because my brain is already full of memes?

........No comment >.>

Sending you all love and good vibes for January, and the rest of the year to come! I'll mail you all some sunshine. ;)

The Diamond Room Newsletter The Last Full Moon of 2023 in Cancer This is the cleanest my apartment has been, maybe ever. Is it a new year's clean-out? Eh...no. Unfortunately my dearest doggo, Hartley Barkley, has made some friends. Very questionable friends. Flea friends. For the second (and thankfully last) time this year. The last few days have been spent obsessively cleaning every inch of the apartment and the dog. You can thank the fleas and my grossed-out-by-squirming-bugs brain for this...
